Under Directive (EU) 2024/825 on empowering consumers for the green transition (‘EmpCo’), new requirements for environmental and sustainability claims will apply from 27 September 2026.
On some products from older stock, textile labels, hangtags or other product-related markings may still contain environmental or sustainability claims which, under the new requirements, need to be amended, clarified or supplemented with further explanation. In order to minimise, as far as possible, the additional material consumption associated with physically relabelling these products retrospectively, we will provide you with the relevant updated and supplementary information as soon as possible.
In our handling of old stock, we take particular account of the guidance provided by the European Commission’s departments in the FAQs on Directive (EU) 2024/825, in particular Question 18, as well as the ‘Common Understanding on old stock situations’ issued by the European Consumer Protection Cooperation Network (CPC).»
